It would appear as if financial services company OKPay is imposing restrictions on users who may wish to buy bitcoin using GBP transfers. A screenshot account fund page was submitted to social sharing website Reddit Thursday showing a checkbox with the text “I hereby confirm that will not use the funds for purchasing or exchanging crypto-currencies.
According to a poster on the above-linked page, OKPay appears to be using Mayzus Financial Services as their bank — the same bank in use by exchange BTC-e. BTC-e has reportedly been having bank issues, and some have been left wondering if that is exactly what this is all about — banking problems.
The whole situation is unclear at the moment, but we should not jump to conclusions. More information as it becomes available.
