Now, another option has been added — and it goes far beyond electronics. Try the blue skies instead.
Gyft CEO Vinny Lingham took to social sharing website Reddit.com Thursday to announce that his company has added support for purchasing gift cards with bitcoin redeemable with American Airlines.
Users have the option of spending anywhere between $100 to $500 on the cards as of this time, which will probably be more useful for domestic travel over international flying (given the higher cost of transoceanic flights).
Gyft is highly praised in the bitcoin community for one simple reason. It allows enthusiasts of the digital currency to spend their bits at businesses that don’t directly accept bitcoin.
That level of convenience, combined with an attractive reward points program, has help Gyft grow immensely.
According to the service’s website, Gyft allows consumers to purchase e-gift cards from retailers like Sears, Target, Amazon. Going beyong retail, Gyft also allows users to purchase digital items, such as a subscription to the Hulu entertainment website.
