If news that TigerDirect.com (a major electronics retailer) accepting bitcoin on their online store wasn’t quite enough for you, yet another online presence is joining the bitcoin bandwagon.
It’s Fancy.com, a social sharing e-commerce platform launched in 2009 that allows consumers to purchase what they find directly from the Fancy website, as opposed to going directly to a retailer’s webpage.
Aside from paying with the usual credit card, the site’s 2+ million user base can now complete their purchases using bitcoin, thanks to a partnership with Coinbase — who is processing the digital payments on the website’s behalf.
Coinbase most notably serves as Overstock.com’s bitcoin payment processer, as well.
“We are excited to play a small part in the next chapter for BitCoin, the one where people are able to exchange BitCoin for goods and services,” said Joe Einhorn, CEO of Fancy.com. “Fancy has some of the coolest merchandise available for purchase with BitCoin and we have saavy, international clientele who want to shop this way. Let’s see what happens!”
Fancy.com is growing rapidly. The service touts sales exceeding $2 million last Thanksgiving weekend, with $700,000 of that being from black friday alone.
