CheapAir.com Now Taking Bitcoins For Hotel Reservations

It’s wasn’t terribly long ago (late November, in fact) that CheapAir.com had begun accepting bitcoins for flights. We’re now at the start of February, and the company will now begin accepting bitcoins for hotel reservations at over 200,000 properties around the world.

The move comes amidst the success of bitcoin flights. CheapAir.com CEO Jeff Klee said that the company has “been really pleasantly surprised by the response,” noting that they’ve made “a lot more” sales paid for with bitcoin than they initially anticipated.

The move expands horizons for bitcoin enthusiasts with an interest in going on holiday — allowing them to pay for a good chunk of the trip using nothing but the digital currency. Certainly a huge leap forward from this time just a year ago.

But whilst bitcoins for hotel rooms is convenient, we would fully expect the front desk of the hotel to ask for a credit card for incidentals upon check-in.

Still, it’s a great move forward, without a doubt. The question now is: how long until the competitors see promise and hop aboard? (via USAToday)
