Microtransactions bitcoin startup ChangeTip can now be used on Facebook.
Once strictly limited to Twitter and Reddit, ChangeTip users may now exchange bitcoin tips through a more “friendly” platform, and digital currency and social media enthusiasts alike are celebrating the news.
According to newly appointed vice-president for product Dan Held, adding Facebook has been on the company’s to-do list for quite some time. Held states:
“With over 1 billion users, enabling this on Facebook opens up a unique way to bring new people into bitcoin… Facebook is the biggest social media network, so it was a top priority for us.”
The process of sending a bitcoin tip on Facebook appears fairly simple. All users need to do is connect their accounts within the ChangeTip settings panel. The Facebook option is shown in the ChangeTip main tipping screen. The interface populates the “Send to” field with the Facebook friends of the user. Customers can then specify how many bitcoins are sent to which recipients and can then add personal messages to go along with the tips if they desire to do so.
There is also a ChangeTip app on Facebook so that users can access the tipping tool without issue.
While the integration of Facebook took several weeks to complete, Held feels it was time well spent, and that customers will be particularly happy with the newly-added features.
