BTXDeals Brings Bitcoin to the U.K.

British technology entrepreneur Nick Boardman has launched BTXDeals, the first online bitcoin marketplace in the United Kingdom.

Much like Amazon’s platform, BTX allows consumers to list items for free.  It simply takes a 5% cut of any sale, which it claims is “typically 50% lower than that charged by Amazon or eBay.”  Those interested in purchasing may only do so through bitcoin, although retailers have the option of converting customer payments to GBP.

Boardman states in a press release:

“As the first of its kind, BTXDeals embraces the potential of Bitcoin and provides a safe, secure and transparent form of online shopping that puts the power in the hands of the consumer… We’re passionate about the potential of this virtual currency and believe it will become the future for all e-commerce transactions.”

The number of vendors joining hands with the online marketplace has already grown to include Grange Hotels, Sun Mountain Golf, Time Square Birmingham and Shy Aviation, who’s CEO Scott Sullivan, expressed joy over BTXDeals and its related operations:

“We’re confident that Bitcoins are capable of shaping the future of e-commerce, so joining a company that is looking to become an early pioneer of this form of online trading was an easy decision… Nick’s enthusiasm for the potential of BTXDeals to make a real impact on this market is infectious, and we’re very much looking forward to a long and successful partnership.”
