Bitcoin payment processer BitPay has announced today some pretty impressive figures. The company says they’ve managed to do upwards of $100,000,000 USD in transactions this year, with a merchant base exceeding 15,000 in about 200 countries.
“BitPay is the gateway payment for businesses that want to accept bitcoin. It’s the main player to develop the merchant economy for bitcoin community,” says BTCTrop CEO Martin Fernandez.
The company says that since they’ve introduced their all-inclusive pricing plan, merchant sign-ups have increased a whopping 50%, effectively tripling the amount of transactions they handle.
BitPay bridges the gap between traditional and digital currency by allowing merchants to convert bitcoin back to fiat, and allowing consumers to simply pay using bitcoin with no added hassle.
On Black Friday, BitPay announced they processed over 6,000 transactions — making it the busiest day in “bitcoin commerce”. (via BusinessWire)
