Early bitcoin adopter looking to burn some of your bitcoin holdings? It may just be time to start living the life of luxury.
That’s because the digital currency seemingly everyone is talking about can now buy you a 120-foot tri-deck mega yacht. The ship, which is currently still being furnished is located in a California shipyard, and it’s going for $11 million. At the current exchange rate, that’s over 21,000 bitcoins.
According to the listing on bitcoin luxury marketplace BitPremier, “The yacht is currently off-market and will not be advertised until after all specifications are installed.”
The ship is expected to be ready for the seas come May of this year, where it could probably find itself sitting alongside other yachts of similar caliber in Monaco or Málaga.
And if you think the ship is expensive, just wait until you find out how much it costs to fuel the beast’s 5000 gallon gas tank up. Hint: it’s likely in the hundreds of thousands of dollars — per trip. Now that you just may have to pay for with traditional currency.
The selling of luxury items in exchange for digital currency is nothing new. From private jet charters to exotic supercars, a bitcoin-touting mogul seemingly has everything he/she needs to live the high life.
Just this morning we posted about a luxury beachfront home for sale in South Carolina for about $2.7 million. The homeowner seeks to accept bitcoin for all or part of the property’s final purchase price.
Bitcoin acceptance for multi-million dollar assets is not only designed to appeal to the newly rich in the crypto-community. Accepting bitcoin has it’s benefits: fast payments, no exorbitant fees, and no expensive exchange rate conversions between currencies.
