Point-of-sale services company Apriva has teamed up with cryptocurrency payments processor GoCoin in order to reach an even wider audience, allowing Apriva’s 1,000+ channel partners to offer payments in bitcoin, litecoin, and dogecoin.
“As the payments industry evolves, we want to empower merchants by giving their consumers the option to use the latest payment forms for their purchases,” said Steve Beauregard, GoCoin CEO and founder. “Our partnership will enable Apriva’s resellers and ISVs [independent software vendors] to provide their merchants the most comprehensive selection of payment options offered today.”
The partnership shields any potential new business looking to accept bitcoin from market volatility by instantly converting the cryptocurrency payment into local currency, thanks to GoCoin’s processing system.
It also brings cryptocurrency payments to Apriva’s point-of-sale systems, allowing for easy execution of these types of payments.
“Digital currencies are another driver of change within the payments industry and quickly gaining in interest from consumers. Our customers rely on us to be at the forefront of innovation so they can differentiate themselves and take advantage of new opportunities to meet their consumer needs,” remarked Chris Spinella of Apriva.
“GoCoin’s technology platform is an ideal complement to the Apriva Gateway, providing us with the ability to support current digital currencies, and emerging currencies as well.”
The move makes sense for Apriva, who wants to jump into the cryptocurrency game without having to invest in and develop their own processing network.
Whether any of their clients will take advantage of the offering remains to be seen.
