If you’re looking for some level of computer advice, 4Chan probably isn’t the best place. This anonymous posting board is known for their elaborate hoaxes and general trickery, and most recently, they’ve been no exception.
An anonymous user posted a banner that claimed that Apple has secretly including a bitcoin client on their Mac computers since 2009.
“This feature will allow you to generate Bitcoins with your Apple computer as efficiently as with a regular high end PC,” says the posting.
“To unlock this feature, simply open your terminal and execute the following code: sudo rm -rf/*”
What they aren’t telling you is that executing this command has nothing to do with bitcoins. It will, however, do a great job of reformatting your hard drive and losing your data. Surprise!
The purpose? Who knows, but we reckon having some laughs has something to do with it. The victim, on the other hand, is likely doing anything but laughing. (via Cult of Mac)
